Sacred Sunrise at Mount Sinai & St. Catherine Monastery Tour from Sharm El Sheikh

16 hours

Challenging

Climb Mount Sinai before dawn to witness a spectacular sunrise, then visit St. Catherine’s Monastery — one of the world’s oldest monasteries — on this spiritual and scenic tour from Sharm El Sheikh.

Leave the beaches of Sharm El Sheikh behind and journey deep into the Sinai desert for a once-in-a-lifetime spiritual adventure. Traveling overnight in a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle, you will reach Mount Sinai in the early hours of the morning to begin your ascent under the stars.

Standing at 2,285 meters above sea level, Mount Sinai is considered one of the holiest mountains in the world. The climb takes approximately 2.5–3 hours and follows a winding desert path illuminated by the moon and small rest stations along the way. For those who prefer not to walk the entire distance, camel rides are available for part of the ascent (up to the 700 steps area).

As dawn breaks, you will reach the summit in time to witness a magical sunrise spreading across the Sinai mountains — a truly emotional and unforgettable moment.

After descending, you will visit St. Catherine’s Monastery, built in the 6th century during the reign of Emperor Justinian. The monastery houses priceless religious icons, ancient manuscripts, and the legendary Burning Bush site. You will explore the main church, courtyard, and learn about the monastery’s deep religious significance.

Before returning to Sharm El Sheikh, enjoy a well-deserved breakfast at a local restaurant in St. Catherine city.
